What Are Your Kids Bringing Home From School?

Natural Horse Care Tips | Benefits Of Horse Massage Therapy | Equine Bodywork | Exercises For Horses | Natural Remedies For Horses | Essential Oils | Using Essential Oils For Horses | Healing Your Horse Naturally | Improve Flexibility And Performance In Horses Posted on October 1, 2012 by Lisa Generali-PerezOctober 25, 2023

This weekend I was reminded about all the NOT so lovely things that our children bring home from school to share with us.  While at a North Texas horse barn working on some clients’ horses, one of my clients was just overcoming a horrible stomach bug that she caught from her grandchildren who had come to visit her the week before.  I thought to myself at that time, “Boy, I’m glad that my daughter is a teenager now and I don’t have to worry so much about her sharing germs with other little children as they are so fond of doing!”  But, even though she is older and knows the drill about washing her hands regularly and not sharing drinks and such with other kids, those pesky bugs still manage to find ways to intrude into our lives.  Both my husband and daughter came down with that stomach bug over the weekend!

I’m always slathering my essential oils all over me for something, whether it be PanAway for soothing my tired and sore muscles after a long day of equine bodywork, inhaling peppermint every morning when I wake up, and frankincense for my skin.  My family are always making fun of me for toting my oil pouch with me everywhere and wafting various aromas around the house!  Before I left for the Parelli horse clinic on Sunday that I was participating in with my mare, I made everyone had applied DiGize and Peppermint to their tummies.  Then I went about on my way wishing them a better day.  Well, when I got home yesterday evening I was immediately berated for taking the oils with me to the clinic!  “Why didn’t I leave the oils for them to use for the day!”  It was quite funny how they make fun of me when they don’t need them, but when they are sick, they suddenly can’t live without them!

Last month I made a horrible mistake and let myself run out of my Thieves essential oil.  NEVER AGAIN!  Had I not run out of it, my family probably would not have had such a horrible weekend and my kitchen would be clean because my daughter would have been able to do her chores!  I could have made sure that as soon as I knew there was something going around that she had applied a couple of drops of Thieves to the palms of her hands, had a drop of Thieves Vitality in a cup of tea and been diffusing in the house in the evenings to help rid my home of all the unwanted airborne things.

If you are not familiar with the history of Thieves essential oil, it is a fascinating story dating back to the days of the Black Plague.  The properties of Thieves essential oil are amazing.  We use Thieves Vitality to help support our natural immune system and Thieves if very beneficial for it’s cleansing properties as well.  It is safe to use for your horses and other pets as well**.  Thieves essential oil diffused in the home has a very pleasant cinnamony aroma, excellent for the winter months and bringing that Christmas cheer to your home.  It kind of makes you wonder “Why cinnamon” when it comes to the holiday season doesn’t it?

This month, I’m making sure that I don’t run out of Thieves again!  I just added a bottle of it to my order along with a bag of Thieves Hard Lozenges and a bottle of Inner Defense this month to make sure I’m well stocked.  You can get some for your own home here – Essenty Websites

** CAUTION:  Cats can be extremely sensitive to certain oils and extreme caution must be used when using essential oils for cats.  Consult your holistic veterinarian before using.  Always dilute with a carrier oil such as coconut or V6 or dilute in water for irrigating wounds when using with pets.
