So the dilemma…how to make your own healthy horse treat that tastes good and not leave you feeling guilty for giving them a bunch of empty calories. I scoured the internet for a recipe that would be both natural, limited on processed sugar and allow the incorporation of therapeutic essential oils which could add both flavor and specific, targeted health benefits of your choice.
Natural Horse Apple Treats
- 2 Cups – Plain oats (Quaker oats is fine)
- 1 Cup – Organic sugar-free apple sauce
- 1/2 Cup – Shredded carrots (Optional)
- 10 Drops – Young Living Vitality essential oil of your choice*
Mix in a bowl with just enough flour for hold the mixture together into balls. Roll into bite sized balls. Bake at 225 degrees for 1 hour.
